FAQ
Can we bring children and babies?
Yes. We’ll have some highchairs and an area for wee ones.
How do I RSVP?
You can RSVP by filling in this form. Please do so by 29 March.
Is there parking at the venue?
There is space for a few cars at the venue. These will be reserved for guests who might have a particular access need such as not being able to walk long distances, or coming to the wedding with small children. If you have a particular access need and would prefer to park at Grōwan, you can let us know when you RSVP.
More free on-street parking can be found locally in the village of Marden, which is around a 10 minute walk from Grōwan. If you’re bringing a car, please try to lift-share with people you know, but we would encourage guests to take the train and/or taxi where possible.
Why is there no bar?
Grōwan is our friends’ home too, so there is no bar. We’ll be offering some drinks, but after that it’s BYOB. See Food & Drink for more.
What’s a cèilidh?
It’s traditional Scottish dancing - think Strip the Willow or Gay Gordons. We’ll be having a short reel straight after the ceremony, led by a live band.
Why May Day?
May Day is an important Celtic celebration that marks the first day of summer, and has long been associated with fun, revelry, music and dancing. We’ll ask you to join in a May Day song.
What should I wear?
The dress code is ‘Sumer is icumen in’ (Summer is a coming in). Think linens & silks, whimsical & folk, bold & bright just like spring & summer. Don’t be afraid to wear white! It is a May Day celebration, after all.
What should I wear on my feet?
Weather permitting, we’ll be a mixture of indoor and outdoor, including grass.
